John Everson is the Bram Stoker Award-winning author of the novels Covenant (Leisure Books, 2008) and Sacrifice (Leisure …

John Everson is the Bram Stoker Award-winning author of the novels Covenant (Leisure Books, 2008) and Sacrifice (Leisure Books, 2009). Both novels were originally issued as limited edition hardcovers by Delirium Books. A Polish translation of Covenant was also issued by Poland’s Red Horse Books as Demoniczne Przymierze in late summer 2007.

Over the past 15 years, John’s short fiction has appeared in more than 50 magazines, including Space & Time, Dark Discoveries and Grue, as well as in a couple dozen anthologies, most recently in A Dark and Deadly Valley, Cold Flesh, Damned, and Kolchak: The Night Stalker Casebook. His short stories have also been translated and published in Polish and French. A wide selection of his short fiction has been collected in three short story collections – Needles & Sins (Necro Books, 2007), Vigilantes of Love (Twilight Tales, 2003) and Cage of Bones & Other Deadly Obsessions (Delirium Books, 2000).

“Letting Go,” one of the short stories from Needles & Sins was nominated for a 2007 Bram Stoker Award and three other short stories from the collection have been included in the Honorable Mention List of the annual Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror anthology co-edited by Ellen Datlow.

John is also the editor of the anthologies Sins of the Sirens (Dark Arts Books, 2008) and In Delirium II (Delirium Books, 2007) and co-editor of the Spooks! ghost story anthology (Twilight Tales, 2004). In 2006, he co-founded Dark Arts Books (www.darkartsbooks.com) to produce trade paperback collections spotlighting the cutting edge work of some of the best authors working in short dark fantasy fiction today (they have since produced four anthologies). He is also a digital artist and musician – some of his dark techno songs serve as the soundtrack to the horror fiction CD-ROM anthologies Bloodtype and Carnival/Circus, and in 2003 he scored Martin Mundt’s comedic serial killer stage play “The Jackie Sexknife Show” in Chicago.

John shares a deep purple den in Naperville, Illinois with a cockatoo and cockatiel, a disparate collection of fake skulls, twisted skeletal fairies, Alan Clark illustrations and a large stuffed Eeyore. There’s also a mounted Chinese fowling spider named Stoker courtesy of fellow horror author Charlee Jacob, an ever-growing shelf of custom mix CDs and an acoustic guitar that he can’t really play but that his son likes to hear him beat on anyway. Sometimes his wife is surprised to find him shuffling through more public areas of the house, but it’s usually only to brew another cup of coffee. In order to avoid the onerous task of writing, he records pop-rock songs in a hidden home studio, experiments with the insatiable culinary joys of the jalapeno, designs book covers for a variety of small presses, loses hours in expanding an array of gardens and chases frequent excursions into the bizarre visual headspace of ’70s euro-horror DVDs with a shot of Makers Mark and a tall glass of Newcastle.

We are very pleased to Announce John Everson’s signing with Lovecraft Press. We will be digitally releasing Vigilantes of Love, which was originally released in 2003.

The collection includes 15 dark fantasy and horror tales, including the title story, written especially for this collection and “Lovesong” a 5th Place winner in the 2000 World Horror Convention Fiction Contest. Included are tales reprinted from the anthologies TransVersions and Freaks, Geeks & Sideshow Floozies, and the magazines Sirius Visions, Crossroads, Eulogy and Plot, as well as a number of original works.

For information on his fiction, art and music, visit John Everson: Dark Arts at www.johneverson.com or MySpace at www.myspace.com/johneverson.

We are very happy to announce that Nate Southard has joined Lovecraft Press. We will be releasing “Just Like Hell” in March 2010.

Nate Southard is the writer of Just Like Hell, Broken Skin, He Stepped Through, and the graphic novels Drive and A Trip to Rundberg. His short stories have appeared in a number of venues both online and in print, including Cemetery Dance, Shroud Magazine, Thuglit, and numerous anthologies.

A graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film, Nate lives in Austin with his girlfriend and a quartet of lazy pets. He is currently hard at work on his next novel. Nate’s a friendly kinda guy, and he welcomes communication with readers.

“Just Like Hell” Book Description:

Dillon has the world on a string. With a record-breaking football season and several scholarship offers in his pocket, he can write his own future.

But Dillon has a secret, something he’s never told the rest of his team. Even his best friends don’t know. They might not understand. They might overreact.

Now the secret is out. Maybe that’s why Dillon just woke up in the trunk of a car.

And maybe that’s why Dillon is about to go through something Just Like Hell.

“Nate Southard is one of the best new writers of his generation, and something new by him is always cause for celebration. I’m a big fan.” – Brian Keene, author of Castaways and Urban Gothic

“Just Like Hell is a vicious and disturbing work of prose in which the economy of language works like a finely honed blade, separating muscle from bone. Fans of Jack Ketchum, Thomas Tessier and Ed Lee have a new name to look for in Nate Southard. Southard’s work is brutal, horrific, beautiful and moving – just like life.” – Lee Thomas, Lambda Literary Award and Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Stained, Parish Damned and The Dust of Wonderland

“Nate Southard writes with the no-nonsense intensity and the confident swagger of a bare-knuckle boxer.” – Chris Golden, author of The Myth Hunters and Wildwood Road
